Is our Judicial System Threatened by Enemies Within?

Our judicial system is spinning out of control. We are losing confidence and trust in "the good guys," as we see again and again innocent citizens being abused by police. We hear of false charges pursued, regardless of lack of evidence. We learn of individuals in prison for decades for crimes they did not commit. (And, we witness children being abducted from asylum seekers who are being denied Due Process as guaranteed in our US Constitution.)

The Innocence Project has networks nationwide. The Innocence Project's mission, as stated on their website, is to free the staggering number of innocent people who remain incarcerated, and to bring reform to the system responsible for their unjust imprisonment. https://www.innocenceproject.org/about/

TV documentaries, such as Netflix's Making a Murderer, or interviews on shows such as 60 Minutes with individuals pulled into the tangle of lies perpetrated by certain prosecuting attorneys have become commonplace.

What can We the People do? Our Founding Fathers were well-aware of human nature when writing the Declaration of Independence --"...all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed." Translation -- humans will go along to get along, until the violations are no longer bearable. Often, this only happens when we, or a family/friend become the victim of the violations.

Remember the poem of Martin Niemöller a Lutheran minister and early Nazi supporter. When his views about Hitler's regime changed, Niemöller was thrown in a concentration camp.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Our nation was founded on a fair and just system of law, by the men and women who supported the Declaration of Independence. We must demand a return to that judicial system. We must heed George Washington's warning in his Farewell Address that, "the Union was weak and vulnerable to attacks from internal and external enemies," and bring to swift and severe judgement those who have subverted America's judicial system so "that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
